Hello Everyone,
What is all the “fuss” over nutrition? I’ll give you a good example: Our cars need clean fuel to function, and clean oil so that it may last for years, right? And if you run out of gas what happens? The car breaks down! What happens if we let old or “dirty” oil go through the engine? The car starts to have problems and eventually breaks down. This is essentially what is happening with our bodies and nutrition. The better nutrition, the better we function. If the body is fueled improperly we start seeing health problems arise: weight gain, fatigue, lost concentration, lack of drive, depression, mood changes, the list can go on and on. When the body is fueled with the proper nutrition it can function in a more efficient way giving a sense of gained energy and clarity.
I hear this all the time “it’s to expensive to eat healthy”. You are absolutely right, healthy options do cost more. Here is the real secret though, when the body gets the fuel it needs (healthy food) the body can recognize it and utilize most of the nutrients. When the body can utilize the nutrients it is allowed to operate at a higher level which will be noticed with more energy, weight loss, better sleep, etc. When “junk” is introduced to the body, the body will run sluggishly due to the fact there is little to no nutritional value. This would be like giving a Mercedes Benz regular fuel….bad things happen!!! When the body cannot utilize certain foods it will have a difficult time breaking them down which means you don’t get energy and start to feel sluggish and tired all the time.
Now you may ask yourself, what do I eat to get the results I am looking for? First, I am going to challenge you to think about what it is that you want: weight loss, gained energy, build muscle, or in general become a healthier version of yourself. Each of these categories can be addressed through what you eat. I have a general guideline for people to follow, but depending on your specific need together we can tweak it to your specific needs! Below you will find a general guideline that can help you get started:
